On a day we have grown to know as a celebration of love and affection, learn to open your heart and spine safely through yogic backbending. The structure of our hearts changes with time and can stiffen and shrink. Backbends help tone the tissues of the heart and its arteries. They make the spine flexible and the mind and body alert. The subtle action of opening the chest can generate positive feelings such as joy, courage, and openness. While backbends may cause fear, practicing backbends in a supported and guided manner helps one's emotional ability to overcome it. Backbends, therefore, are an excellent practice for combating depression. Gain lightness and freedom this Valentine’s Day with Kay.
